Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) (SM-A310Y) Firmware Overview
What is the latest SM-A310Y firmware?
A310YDVS4CTI2, released December 3, 2020 for region PNG with Android 5.1.1. It is a security update on bootloader binary 4. The archive holds 6 official builds for this region.
Is the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) still getting updates?
Most likely not: there has been no new firmware since December 2020, so Android 7 is the last version this model got. The final builds below are still the best choice for a clean reinstall.
Which Android versions did it get?
The SM-A310Y builds in the archive run Android 5.1.1 to 7. The earliest build we have for each version:
- Android 7: A310YDVU3CQK1 (Nov 2017), 4 builds in total
- Android 5.1.1: A310YDVS4CTI2 (Dec 2020), 2 builds in total
Can I downgrade the SM-A310Y firmware?
Only to builds with the same bootloader binary (the Bit column) or higher. In the archive the binary of this model rose from 3 to 4:
- Binary 4 — since Jan 2018
- Binary 3 — since Nov 2017
A phone already on binary 4 rejects builds with a lower binary in Odin ("SW REV CHECK FAIL"), so it can go back to an earlier Android version only if that version has a binary 4 build. How to read a build number.
