Samsung Galaxy J7 (SM-J701F) Firmware Overview
What is the latest SM-J701F firmware?
J701FXXUACUH1, released August 30, 2021 with Android 9. It is a feature update on bootloader binary 10. The archive holds 20 official builds across 19 regions (CSC). Each one is the full stock ROM (flash file) for Odin, not an OTA patch.
Is the Samsung Galaxy J7 still getting updates?
Most likely not: there has been no new firmware since August 2021, so Android 9 is the last version this model got. The final builds below are still the best choice for a clean reinstall.
Can I downgrade the SM-J701F firmware?
Only to builds with the same bootloader binary (the Bit column) or higher. In the archive the binary of this model rose from 1 to 10:
- Binary 10 — since May 2021
- Binary 6 — since Aug 2018
- Binary 5 — since Jul 2018
- Binary 4 — since Feb 2018
- Binary 3 — since Dec 2017
- Binary 2 — since Sep 2017
- Binary 1 — since Jun 2017
A phone already on binary 10 rejects builds with a lower binary in Odin ("SW REV CHECK FAIL"), so it can go back to an earlier Android version only if that version has a binary 10 build. How to read a build number.
