Samsung Galaxy Note8 (SM-N9500) Firmware Overview
What is the latest SM-N9500 firmware?
N9500ZHU7DZE1, released May 18, 2026 with Android 9. It is a feature update on bootloader binary 7. The archive holds 21 official builds across 2 regions (CSC).
Is the Samsung Galaxy Note8 still getting updates?
Yes. The newest build is from May 2026, and 1 of 2 regions already have a build from that month; the rest usually follow within a few weeks.
Can I downgrade the SM-N9500 firmware?
Only to builds with the same bootloader binary (the Bit column) or higher. In the archive the binary of this model rose from 1 to 7:
- Binary 7 — since Jul 2020
- Binary 6 — since Mar 2020
- Binary 4 — since Jul 2018
- Binary 3 — since Jun 2018
- Binary 2 — since Nov 2017
- Binary 1 — since Sep 2017
A phone already on binary 7 rejects builds with a lower binary in Odin ("SW REV CHECK FAIL"), so it can go back to an earlier Android version only if that version has a binary 7 build. How to read a build number.
