Samsung Galaxy Note8 (SM-N9508) Firmware Overview
What is the latest SM-N9508 firmware?
N9508ZMS7DUD1, released October 26, 2023 with Android 9. It is a security update on bootloader binary 7. The archive holds 21 official builds across 1 region (CSC). Each one is the full stock ROM (flash file) for Odin, not an OTA patch.
Is the Samsung Galaxy Note8 still getting updates?
Most likely not: there has been no new firmware since October 2023, so Android 9 is the last version this model got. The final builds below are still the best choice for a clean reinstall.
Can I downgrade the SM-N9508 firmware?
Only to builds with the same bootloader binary (the Bit column) or higher. In the archive the binary of this model rose from 1 to 7:
- Binary 7 — since Jul 2020
- Binary 6 — since Dec 2019
- Binary 5 — since Jul 2019
- Binary 4 — since Jul 2018
- Binary 3 — since Jun 2018
- Binary 2 — since Nov 2017
- Binary 1 — since Sep 2017
A phone already on binary 7 rejects builds with a lower binary in Odin ("SW REV CHECK FAIL"), so it can go back to an earlier Android version only if that version has a binary 7 build. How to read a build number.
