Samsung Galaxy Tab A(2016) with S Pen (SM-P585M) Firmware Overview
What is the latest SM-P585M firmware?
P585MUBU2CUF2, released July 10, 2021 with Android 8.1. It is a feature update on bootloader binary 2. The archive holds 20 official builds across 19 regions (CSC). Each one is the full stock ROM (flash file) for Odin, not an OTA patch.
Is the Samsung Galaxy Tab A(2016) with S Pen still getting updates?
Most likely not: there has been no new firmware since July 2021, so Android 8.1 is the last version this model got. The final builds below are still the best choice for a clean reinstall.
Which Android versions did it get?
The SM-P585M builds in the archive run Android 7 to 8.1. The earliest build we have for each version:
- Android 8.1: P585MUBS2CTJ1 (Nov 2020), 19 builds in total
- Android 7: P585MUBS2CTJ1 (Nov 2020), 1 build in total
Can I downgrade the SM-P585M firmware?
Only to builds with the same bootloader binary (the Bit column) or higher. In the archive the binary of this model rose from 1 to 2:
- Binary 2 — since Oct 2020
- Binary 1 — since Dec 2016
A phone already on binary 2 rejects builds with a lower binary in Odin ("SW REV CHECK FAIL"), so it can go back to an earlier Android version only if that version has a binary 2 build. How to read a build number.
